To coincide with Deaf Awareness Week, running from 5–11 May 2025, Eploy’s partner, Recite Me, recently shared news on their new BSL Sign Language Translation feature, delivered in partnership with Sign Solutions. A joint effort to help provide better support to deaf website users. This allows Recite Me to expand the ways deaf website users are supported, particularly those who use BSL as their primary language. Deaf Awareness Week is a chance to celebrate the contributions of Deaf people in the UK and raise awareness of the barriers they still face.
As shared by Recite Me, over 151,000 people use British Sign Language (BSL) in the UK, with an estimated 25,000 who use BSL as their primary language (British Deaf Association). For many people born deaf, BSL is not just a communication method - it is their first language. This means that written or spoken English may not come naturally, and support for BSL users is essential for building inclusive digital spaces.
Recite Me introduce BSL Sign Language Translation on its Accessibility Toolbar
As part of Recite Me’s mission to create a more inclusive digital world, they recently launched a brand-new BSL translation feature on the Recite Me Assistive Toolbar.
‘’This feature allows website owners to display BSL translations of key content, making it easier for Deaf BSL users to understand and engage with important information. Whether it’s navigating services, reading policies, or understanding a company’s values, everyone deserves equal access.
We’re excited to see the impact this will have in helping organisations communicate more effectively with the Deaf community, and we’re just getting started.’’
